Hours to Go

I'm forcing myself to stay up to watch the Opening Ceremonies, which are being shown live at 2AM GMT. I can't believe there are literally hours to go until the games begin!

I think everyone's excitement has been dampened a little though by the tragic news of the death of the Georgian luger, Nodar Kumaritashvili. It is just awful, such a terrible thing to happen at any point, but especially so soon before the games. I'm not sure if Georgia plans to march in the opening ceremony. I hope they mark his death in some way tonight. It also sounds as if the luge track is way too intense, there have been so many injuries and now a fatality; hopefully they will look at that before the competition starts.
